Natural Stress Busters

If you have a busy life make sure you leave time for stress offsetting plans or otherwise my friend you will blow a gasket. This year has been one of the most difficult financially for a lot of people. Prolonged high levels of stress caused by financial problems affects our mental and emotional health, which in turn affects our spouses and families. First of all, how do we gauge if we are stressed, remember if we are under a lot of stress for prolonged period of time we can become accustomed to the symptoms and see them as a part of every day life or begin to blame people around you for the way you feel.

  • Anxious
  • Mind-racing
  • Chest palpitations
  • Problems concentrating
  • Anxiety
  • Easily irritated
  • Avoiding people and responsibilities
  • Focusing on negative thoughts
  • Anger issues
  • Headaches
  • Digestive problems
  • Muscle tension and pain
  • Sleep issues
  • Fatigue
  • High blood pressure
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Skins problems - breakouts, rashes,
  • Hives
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Nervous behaviors - nail biting, pacing,
  • Teeth grinding
Now you simply must become proactive in offsetting the stress you encounter in your day-to-day life. Breathing and stretching exercises are the most effective for here and now stress relief. If we stop and actually think about our breaths and make them deeper and longer we can reduces the effects of stress automatically. You see it's easy to fool our unconscious minds. If we are standing in a queue for the bank and are late for a meeting we can fool our unconscious minds by breathing slowly and deeply as if we are relaxing in the bath. Have you ever stopped for a moment or two when you are fully relaxed and at peace and have no worries and actually taken notice of your breathing, the way your shoulders feels, or your eyes, or mouth, or stomach. Next time you are relaxed I want you to take note of these things. Notice the way your jaw is set loose, your lips are soft, your eye lids are relaxed, your breathing is soft, deep and slow and your shoulders are soft and relaxed. Then try and memorize these and next time you are in a stressful situation make your mouth relaxed, your breathing slow, your eyes and shoulders soft and just see how it all feels. What you will have done is fooled your unconscious mind into thinking you are relaxing. Of course doing this would be foolish if we really were in a situation where we were in danger.
Sometimes we need to spend a little more time treating ourselves so that we can recharge our batteries. This also helps us to deal with stress.
